I designed this website to showcase my projects and improve my web development skills. I started by building out the basic HTML structures and content for the site. Then I created unique CSS files to control the styling and layout for the various webpages of my projects. The goal was to experiment with different techniques.
For my first CSS file (styles.css), I focused on having an easy and intuitive navigation. It gave the site a sleek, modern look. For my various other files, I wrote new CSS and JavaScript depending on the various needs of those sections. The one consistent aspect I focused on was making sure all areas of my website were set for both desktop and mobile. Overall, designing my website with separate CSS files enabled valuable practice. The end result is a polished, adaptable website showcasing my accomplishments in web design as well as my skills as a digital artist.
I created a webpage for my short film, Remembering Player 1. I used one of my favorite images and a pixel font to fit the vibe of my project. The About page details my inspiration for creating the short film. This section also includes the mediums I experimented with during the process. I also included a link in the tool bar where the movie can easily be accessed.
For the AF Cupcakes portion, I took inspiration from how Webtoons are read, by scrolling. I knew early on I wanted to have Agnes, the main character, jump when someone hovers over her to link to the Webtoon. The design of this page also allowed me to easily use my art as a backdrop, which I feel is integral when displaying any kind of comic.
A Dream for the Queen page has one of my favorite backgrounds I have created. I thought it was important to include a few sample illustrations in a functional little book. I decided to keep this part of my website simple for now. I am planning on making revisions to this page within the coming year as another book is under works. This page will then be a general page for the books I illustrate.
Fabulousness: A Responsive Design Framework uses the framework I created while working on my graduate degree. It has easy-to-follow instructions and an example webpage. I took inspiration from lessons I completed that had to do with implementing others’ frameworks. As a newer developer at the time, I found them confusing and hard to work with. This served as the inspiration for creating a more beginner-friendly framework. I also thought it was important to make sure that the framework was used throughout to show its success.
